your 5in5 bonus round

write to play

As promised, when we started talking about 5in5 this year, I mentioned that I had some bonuses planned for you. To better understand them, let me first tell a quick backstory…

When we began 5in5 I originally wanted to call it 5in5in5 which meant (in my mind) 5 songs in 5 days in the 5th month (May). But the title seemed too confusing – even to me. So I shortened it to 5in5 and that seemed much better; however, I still sometimes think about it being 5in5in5. This year when thinking about that old title (5in5in5) I realized a cool little math thing which I will now try to explain plainly.

By the end of our 5 days of 5in5 songwriting we end up with 5 songs. 5 songs is as many songs as there have been months this year = 5. Everyone still with me? Not trying to turn this into a difficult math problem, but to recap: we have had 5 months so far in 2013 and we now have 5 songs that we have written. This is no small feat, but I think you have even more in you…

My first bonus is a challenge for you. I want to push you to write (at least) one song a month. If you do this you’ll have 12 new songs by the end of this year!! I think this could be really incredible and I want to push you to keep developing your songwriting. I want to help keep you going, so this first month I’m going to give you a specific idea to help get you started & then on June 30th we will all come back here to post our songs for each other.

With this specific challenge you will have have more time to put into a song, but do not procrastinate – you are going to write 12 songs this year!!

My second bonus is that I want to meet with you personally and talk about what you’re doing with your music. We’ll discuss plans for the music you wrote during 5in5, help you think through revising your songs, and answer any questions you might have related to songwriting and music. I guarantee it will be a fun session with the goal of helping you improve your songwriting and music skills. We will simply schedule a time to meet on skype/google hangout, chat for 15-30 mins, and you’ll walk away with an action plan fully customized to you.

So if you’re interested in either of these bonuses, please fill out the form below. In the “message” section simply tell me if you’re interested in bonus 1, bonus 2 or both and I’ll be in touch soon:

**UPDATE #1** if you tried signing up for one or both bonuses earlier today, the form was not working. Please re-submit your response below to make sure you’re signed up for the bonuses!!

**Update #2** the bonus sessions are now closed!

      1. I tried! Haha : ) Resent the form. You’ve had more than enough trouble with that this year, goodness!

  1. Brother, I’m getting around late… as usual. But I’m in… again, some more. Whatever you do, I want in. You need to know that this 5in5 thing has impacted my songwriting more than anything else ever. You/it… pushed me to write songs (which, in turn, pushed me to seek God) during my everyday life. Songwriting went from being something that “I’d get around to when I had time” to something that I can do as I go.

    1. BenjaminAustic – I’m sending you a private message – be looking for it in your inbox!

  2. Nevermind… I just read the update #2. Still, thanks for this. It’s such an encouragement to listen to all the great songs that are inspired because of God through 5in5.
